Kristin Whitman is senior vice president of government relations at the American Petroleum Institute (API), responsible for developing and executing comprehensive integrated advocacy strategies, including API's external mobilization and political program initiatives, and ensuring the policy and political agenda are successfully advanced.
Whitman has worked in the energy sector and on energy policy for more than 25 years. Prior to joining API, she served as vice president of external affairs for a global chemical and lithium processing company looking to grow its capacity to effectively engage with government entities at the federal, state and regional levels.
In her nearly 17 years at Shell plc, Whitman led the federal advocacy efforts for most of Shell's business units represented in North America, spending much of her time on fuels and petrochemicals policy.
Whitman earned her B.A. in political science from the University of Virginia. She lives in Virginia with her husband and two daughters.
